International visits
These days we are hosting international students from UK, Italy and Greece. Ms Giorgia Franchin, Master student from the University of Padova, Italy, working in the group of Prof. Paolo Colombo visited our laboratories to investigate the bioactivity of calcium silicate scaffolds. Mr Dimitris Papageorgiou, PhD student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (ATU), Greece, is visiting our group in the framework of our collaborative DAAD funded IKYDA project: “Novel bionanocomposites for bone tissue engineering”. This project is led by Prof. Dimitrios Bikiaris from the Chemistry Department at ATU and Prof. Boccaccini. Finally, Harshit Porwal, from Nanoforce Technology Ltd and Queen Mary, University of London, who works on his PhD project under supervision of Prof. Mike Reece, is visiting the Erlangen Institute of Biomaterials to investigate the bioactive behaviour of a new family of bioactive glass composites. This project is carried out in the framework of the EU ITN project GLACERCO. In the photos, Prof. Boccaccini with the visiting students. (Click images to enlarge)
