Visit from Argentina
Juan P. Cattalini, PhD student at the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina, is visiting our Institute in the framework of our collaborative project: “Design and development of novel matrices for tissue engineering and/or drug delivery for pathologies of high social and economic impact”, led by Prof. Viviana Mouriño (UBA, Argentina) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini. The project is funded by the International Bureau of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Germany, and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovative Production in Argentina. It involves the exchange of senior and junior researchers and has as main aim the development of multifunctional bioactive matrices in three dimensions (scaffolds) made from natural polymers and bioactive glass nanoparticles allowing the advantageous combination of therapeutic drug release and tissue regeneration in the same system. The following publication has resulted from this collaboration:
Mouriño V, Cattalini JP, Roether JA, Dubey P, Roy I, Boccaccini AR., Composite polymer-bioceramic scaffolds with drug delivery capability for bone tissue engineering, Expert Opin Drug Deliv. 2013 in press. (Click image to enlarge)
