Final meeting IKYDA project
Professor D. Bikiaris of the Chemistry Dept. at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, visited out Institute in the week 9-13 December 2013. During his visit the last meeting of our DAAD funded IKYDA project took place. This project, entitled: “Novel bionanocomposites for bone tissue engineering”, was successfully carried out (2012-2013) and enabled the exchange of senior and young researchers between our Institute and AUT to carry out experimental studies on the fabrication and characterisation of a range of biodegradable nanocomposites containing silicate and other oxide nanofillers intended for bone tissue engineering. The project led to publications [1, 2] and other papers are in preparation.
The principal investigators are Prof. D. Bikiaris (AUT) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (pictured). (Click image to enlarge)
