Institute of Biomaterials Erlangen-BG Trauma Centre Ludwigshafen: First Joint Scientific Meeting
The first joint scientific meeting between the Institute of Biomaterials at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Department of Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, BG Trauma Centre, Ludwigshafen, was held on 18th March in Erlangen organised by Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini. Several young researchers and PhD students from both centres participated, in addition to senior researchers including Prof. Ulrich Kneser (Director, Department of Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, BG Trauma Center Ludwigshafen), PD Dr. Leila Harhaus (Consultant, BG Trauma Centre), and Dr Rainer Detsch (Biomaterials Erlangen). Numerous research topics were discussed for collaborative projects in the general field of biomaterials for bone and skin regeneration with emphasis on application of bioactive glasses in vascularisation and wound healing. The last publication in collaboration with Prof. Kneser has been recently published [1]. The second joint meeting will be held in Ludwigshafen next October. (Click images to enlarge)
