Society of Glass Technology “Oldfield Award” for Teresa Buettner
Ms Teresa Buettner, who graduated last year from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at FAU, has won the first place of the Oldfield Award 2015 of the Society of Glass Technology (SGT) for her Master thesis entitled “Analysis of Lithium containing Bioglass and comparison with 45S5 Hench Bioglass” carried out at the Institute of Biomaterials under supervision of Ms. V. Miguez-Pacheco and Prof. A. R. Boccaccini. In the framework of an ERASMUS exchange program during her period as master student, she spent a few months in the Department of Materials, Imperial College London, under supervision of Prof. J. Jones. Part of the results of the thesis of Teresa have been published [1]. The Oldfield award is bestowed by the SGT for research project reports by either Undergraduate or taught Masters students. Ms Teresa Buettner is now doing research at Leibniz Institut für Polymerforschung/Max Bergmann Zentrum in Dresden. She will present the results of her Master thesis at the 2015 Annual Conference of SGT, “Glass reflections”, which will be held at Cambridge University, 7-9th September, 2015.
