Dr. Alexander Hoppe receives Outstanding Biomaterials Thesis Award 2014
The Max Bergmann Center of Biomaterials presented the Outstanding Biomaterials Thesis Award to Dr. Alexander Hoppe for his PhD thesis (Dr.-Ing.) completed in 2014 at the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Institute of Biomaterials, under supervision of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Aldo R. Boccaccini. The prize was presented at the occasion of the Engineering Life 2015 Conference which was held in Dresden on 29 September to 1 October 2015. In this doctoral thesis, Dr. Hoppe developed and characterised a series of novel bioactive glasses with therapeutic ion releasing capability for bone tissue engineering applications and investigated the angiogenic potential and bioactivity of the new scaffolds. The most recent paper from his doctoral thesis has been recently published [1]. A press release about the award is available here.
