3rd TRANSFORMAS meeting in Ludwigshafen
The 3rd scientific meeting of the TRANSFORMAS research group took place on 25th November 2015 in the Andreas Wentzensen Research Institute of the BG Trauma Center Ludwigshafen. TRANSFORMAS (“Translational Applications for Material Science”) is a research initiative between the Institute of Biomaterials, University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Head: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini) and the Department of Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at BG Trauma Center Ludwigshafen (Plastic and Hand Surgery, Head: Prof. Ulrich Kneser). The main collaborative projects include the development of bioactive glass based scaffolds and implants for bone regeneration and wound healing applications [1]. The extension of applications of bioactive glasses to soft tissue repair, as recently reviewed [2], is also in the interest of the current research activities within TRANSFORMAS.
