End of Year Meeting and Summary of 2015 activities and achievements
2015 was a busy and productive year for our Institute. At the end-of-the-year gathering of the Institute of Biomaterials on 14th December 2015, Prof. Boccaccini, Head of the Institute, summarized the achievements by the members of our Institute in the year 2015, which included completion of six doctoral thesis (with two more submitted to be defenced in early 2016), publication of more than 40 scientific papers, more than 20 presentations at national and international conferences, and the award of materials science prizes and recognition by students, young and senior researchers. Prof. Boccaccini highlighted also the acquisition of several new major research grants, mainly from national (DFG) and European (EC) funding. During this year we also welcomed ten new staff members, both PhD students and post-docs, and hosted numerous international visitors in our laboratories (students, young researchers and visiting academics). More than 30 Bachelor and Master theses of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanotechnolgy, Life Science and Engineering and Medical Engineering were completed during 2015 in our Institute.
