Our paper on alginate-elastin hydrogels published in International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Our paper “Hydrogel matrices based on elastin and alginate for tissue engineering applications” has been published in International Journal of Biological Macromolecules [1]. The paper presents a study led by our former co-worker Dr. Raquel Silva, in collaboration with several research groups in Germany, UK and Greece, on the synthesis and characterization of a new family of hybrid hydrogels for soft tissue engineering composed of alginate blended with elastin in two geometries: 2D films and 3D microcapsules, which were tested in contact with human dermal fibroblasts. The study was carried out in the framework of the project TOPbiomat funded by the Emering Fields Initiative (EFI) of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
