Research in Progress meeting: Heidelberg-Erlangen collaboration on ion doped bioactive glasses
The latest Research in Progress meeting of our DFG funded project “Ion enriched bioactive glasses for stimulation of bone formation in vitro and in vivo”, a collaborative research effort with the research group of Dr. Fabian Westhauser, Clinic for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery, Heidelberg University Hospital, took place online on 18th March 2021. We discussed the latest results involving the development of 3D scaffolds based on Zn and Cu doped silicate bioactive glasses (carried out in Erlangen) and their comprehensive in vitro and in vivo characterisation (carried out in Heidelberg).
