Farewell to Dr. Liliana Liverani
This month we said good-bye to Dr. Liliana Liverani, a valuable and key member of our Institute for more than seven years, firstly as visiting PhD student, and then as post-doctoral researcher (Marie Curie fellow) and research lecturer. Liliana contributed enormously to the progress and growth of our Institute, working on many projects, mainly with a focus on the electrospinning technique, which she contributed to establish in our Institute. In her research activities Liliana developed electrospinning methods using benign solvents for fabricating composites (nano)fibres [1] and established a collaboration with the colleagues in the Faculty of Medicine (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology) to develop electrospun patterned scaffolds for the support of ovarian follicles growth [2]. Liliana coordinated also our participation in several European projects, and she was in charge of the organisation and the training of visiting researchers from the FunGlass Center (Slovakia) and the Baltic Biomaterials Center of Excellence (BBCE) (Latvia). During her period in our Institute, Liliana co-authored more than 40 papers as first and/or corresponding author. We thank Liliana for her stellar contributions to our Institute over the years and we wish her all the best in her future career. Keep in touch !
