New freeze dryer at the Institute of Biomaterials
We are pleased with the acquisition of a new freeze dryer at the Institute of Biomaterials. This device will allow the development of polymer and composite scaffolds using a great variety of solvents to achieve complex 3D structures to improve biological and mechanical performance. Prof. Boccaccini said: “This device made of stainless steel will enhance our biomaterial processing capabilities enabling the fabrication of scaffolds from polymers that must be dissolved in non-aqueous solvents. Combination of different processing methods allows us to developed composite and stratified scaffolds with tailored 3D porosity”.
