Our Institute participated in the “Girls and Technology” 2023 initiative
The initiative “Girls and Technology” of the Faculty of Engineering of FAU was held in the Institute of Biomaterials on 4-8 September 2023. 12 girls (Grades 7-12) participated in activities around the topic of “Electrospinning for wound dressing”. The girls received lectures and carried out experimental activities, focused on the preparation of scaffolds for wound healing applications, wettability tests on electrospun mats with food colors, electrospinning apparatus, light microscopy and SEM analysis under the supervision of Dr. Julia Will. Melt electrospinning was demonstrated using cotton candy as an example.
