Visit from Brazil (Federal University of Sao Carlos).
On 8th December 2023 we hosted the visit of a delegation from the Center for Research, Technology and Education in Vitreous Materials (CeRTEV), Federal University of Sao Carlos, Brazil. This visit was in the context of the 1-week visit of the Brazilan delegation to University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in the framework of the FAPESP- BAYLAT funded collaboration: 2nd CeRTEV-FAU Workshop: “Vitreous and glass-ceramic materials in dental medicine”. From FAU side, the activity was led by Prof. Ulrich Lohbauer (Research Laboratory for Dental Biomaterials, University Hospital Erlangen), Prof. Dominique De Ligny (Chair for Glass and Ceramics) and Prof. Boccaccini. Senior members of the Brazilian delegation were Profs. Hellmut Eckert and Edgar Zanotto. During the visit to our Institute, Prof. Boccaccini, Dr. Irem Unalan, Dr. Qaisar Nawaz, and Dr. Rainer Detsch gave presentations showcasing different research activities in the field of bioactive glasses and composites in our Institute. Marcela Arango (PhD student) coordinated the visit. The visitors had the opportunity to tour the laboratories of our Institute and, in a final brain stoming session with all participants, new topics for future collaborations between CerTEV and FAU researchers were discussed and planned.
