Dr. Irem Unalan, researcher at the Institute of Biomaterials, has received a grant from the FAU Emerging Talents Initiative (ETI) to support her research project at the Institute of Biomaterials (Head: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini) titled: “Multifunctional Organic-Inorganic Melt Electrowritten Scaffolds with Enhanced Antibacterial, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, and Cell Affinity Capabilities for Bone Regeneration.” In this project, Irem will focus on melt electrowriting technology to produce a new family of polycaprolactone-based 3D scaffolds for bone regeneration. The scaffolds will be functionalized with cinnamon oil-loaded mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles and thus will incorporate a drug delivery function to enhance their biological activity. Congratulations Irem!
