We are hosting several researchers from FunGlass – Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass, Trencin, Slovakia, including Dr. Hana Kaňková (senior researcher) and Ph.D. students Mina Abdolmaleki and Nariman Alipanah. We collaborate with Dr. Kaňková specially in the characterisation of the composition of bioactive glasses and their ion release kinetics upon immersion in biological fluids by means of inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Mr. Ertugrul Varlik is a Ph.D. student co-supervised by Dr. Ing. Martin Michálek (FunGlass) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (FAU) in a co-tutelle agreement. He works on advanced manufacturing of 3D scaffolds using solid, hollow and mesoporous bioactive glass microspheres. Ms Abdolmaleki works on electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of bioactive glass-polymer coatings, under co-supervision of Dr. Michal Michalek while Nariman Alipanah works on 3D printing of hydrogels incorporating bioactive glass for tissue regeneration applications, under co-supervision of Dr. Zuzana Neščáková and Dr. Orhan Sisman.
