Prof. Boccaccini delivered invited lecture at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
Invited by Prof. Michael G. Monaghan, Director of Research, School of Engineering, Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Prof. Boccaccini visited TCD on 29-31 October 2024. He delivered the lecture “Bioactive glasses: From bone tissue engineering to biofabrication and ionic medicine” and visited the laboratories of the Dept. of Mechanical, Manufacturing and Biomedical Engineering and Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute. Prof. Boccaccini discussed areas for research collaboration with Prof. Monaghan, Dr. Rajiv Borah and with other academic members of the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, including Prof. Daniel Kelly, Prof. Conor Buckley, Dr. Ciara Murphy (RCSI) and Dr. Caroline Curtin (RCSI). Prof. Boccaccini visited also the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (RCSI), where he met Dr. Kulwinder Kaur. We are collaborating with Dr. Kaur in the field of bioactive glass nanoparticles for tissue engineering applications. Prof. Boccaccini said: “I am grateful to Prof. Monaghan for the invitation to visit Trinity College Dublin and the great hospitality of him and his group. This visit gave me the opportunity to present our results on bioactive glasses for ionic medicine to an important audience and to interact with several colleagues in Dublin exploring areas for research collaboration.”
