During the visit of Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini and Dr. Zoya Hadzhieva to the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass (FunGlass), an important meeting with members of the FunGlass Department of Biomaterials, led by Dr. Martin  Michálek, was organized on 19th February 2025 with the participation of all members of the FunGlass Department of Biomaterials.

Our Institute has played a key role in the last seven years as an advanced partner in shaping and supporting the research activities on biomaterials at FunGlass, specially supporting FunGlass early career researchers, PhD students and established scientists in different capacities and transferring important biomaterials technologies for collaborative projects, which ion releasing bioactive glasses, mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles, and processing technologies such as electrospinning, electrophoretic deposition and 3D bioprinting. Although the FunGlass EU project has officially concluded, we will continue our interaction with FunGlass center, in areas such as: exchange mobilities for students and researchers, joint publications and projects. We will also continue exploring new research topics of mutual interest in the field of bioactive materials.
