We are proud to report that a new Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope with an integrated incubator was acquired and installed at the FAU Institute Biomaterials through a DFG large-scale equipment grant. This microscope was applied in collaboration with the research groups of Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, Dr. Rainer Detsch, Prof. Anja Boßerhoff, Prof. Silvia Budday and Prof. Oliver Friedrich, all members of the Collaborative Research Center SFB/TRR 225 ‘From the fundamentals of biofabrication towards functional tissue models’ . The system is particularly valuable for analyzing printed tissue analogues, where laser penetration depth and fluorescence lifetime detection are crucial for investigating the 3D distribution of stem cells in hydrogels. Furthermore, collaborations with these research groups will enable the study of various scientific questions, including tumor development, soft matrices for biomechanical evaluation, and cell physiological investigation. We are thankful to the DFG and the State of Bavaria for the generous support!
