Bioactive Phosphate Glasses

The aim of this research project is to manufacture and characterize novel bioactive phosphate glasses with antibacterial properties as part of the Innovative Training Network-European Industrial Doctorate (ITN-EID) “Drug-Free Antibacterial Hybrid Biopolymers for Medical Applications (HyMedPoly)”, which has received funding in the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Networks (Horizon 2020). The project is being carried out in close collaboration with the industrial partner Lucideon Limited UK. The new glasses will be fully characterized in terms of physicochemical properties, antibacterial functionality and biological compatibility in order to assess their suitability for biomedical applications.
