Characterization of novel electrophoretically deposited chitosan-bioactive glass composite type coatings on WE43 magnesium alloy
Betreuer: Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Aldo R. Boccaccini
The aim of this project is the development and characterization of novel electrophoretically deposited chitosan (CS) ‑ bioactive glass (BG) composite coatings on WE43 magnesium alloy substrate for biomedical applications [1]. The CS+BG (micro size particles) and CS + MIX (mix of micro and nano size particles) coatings are evaluated in terms of their ability to induce surface hydroxyapatite formation in biological fluids while controlling the substrate degradation. This research is founded by European Virtual Institute KMM-VIN AISBL Mobility Programme, of which the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw, Poland, and the FAU Institute of Biomaterials, are partners.
