Mesoporous silica particles (MSPs) are known for their highly ordered structure, low defect concentration and large specic surface area due to their small size and mesoporous structure [1,2]. The structural advantages of MSPs can benet faster ion release (dissolution), a greater surface energy and higher protein adsorption [2]. Boron (B), acting as a therapeutic agent, has a positive efect on wound healing and has the potential to stimulate bone formation and regeneration [3,4]. Boron-containing mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (Boron-MBG-NPs) are able to simultaneously deliver boron ions and biomolecules [4], which is why Boron-MBG-NPs have a promising potential in nanomedicine [2,4]. In this work, the efects of incorporating diferent boron concentrations into mesoporous silicate glass nanoparticles on the morphological characteristics are studied. Various sol-gel derived SiO2-B2O3 glass nanoparticles are synthesized and the composition, particle size, pore volume and specific surface area are investigated. Moreover, biological properties such as cytotoxicity, protein adsorption and time-dependent dissolution rate of the nanoparticles are investigated.
