Preparation of antimicrobial biocomposites : synthesis, characterization and degradation studies

Rich in bioactive compounds, several plant derived compounds are being studied for infection control and wound healing. Essential oils extracted from aerial parts, for example, exhibit strong antimicrobial activity. This study aims to develop a multifunctional therapeutic biocomposite combining a natural biopolymer and essential oils, designed to eliminate or inhibit microorganisms in the biomedical and agri-food sectors.
