Development of smart nano-biosensors and AI data analytics algorithms for tendon monitoring
Supervisors: Professor Francesco Tortorella (main supervisor) (University of Salerno, Italy) and Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (FAU)
This project belongs to the Horizon 2020 “Perspectives for Future Innovation in Tendon Repair” (P4 FIT) European Joint Doctorate consortium (EU H2020-MCSA-ITN-EJD-2020). Sensors will measure both mechanical and biochemical features of tendon behavior. The software component analyzing the sensors data will provide on healthy subject a risk level for injury prediction, and rehabilitation patient will support medical staff on continuous monitoring of the follow-up status. Biomedical information will be derived from medical biosensory data collected from healthy athletic people and tendinopathic patients, and advanced data analysis techniques will be used to establish landmarks and thresholds to have predictive values, and to support decision making to improve diagnosis and prognosis.
