Cotton-like ion-doped bioactive glass fibers: investigation of combined effect of different ions
Supervisors: Dr. Liliana Liverani, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini (Erlangen), Prof. Gustavo Abraham (Mar del Plata)
The aim of this project is to use the electrospinning technique to produce three-dimensional (3D) bioactive glass (BG) fibrous scaffolds, in the SiO2-CaO system, with the subsequent addition of antibacterial ions, for wound healing applications. The project follows previous investigations in our Institute on bioactive glass containing cotton like fibres [1]. Different BG compositions will be analyzed, and will be studied using different characterization techniques (such as XRD, FTIR, SEM, SBF, mechanical and antibacterial tests).
