Performance of a polymer-based scaffold for studying migrating cancer cells
Betreuer: Dr. Aldo Leal-Egana, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini
Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. Due to the complexity of this pathology, multiscope solutions to treat this disease are required.
Currently, biocompatible materials are offering the possibility to mimic the neoplastic microenvironment in vitro, enabling analyzing several biophysical parameters involved in cell pathogenicity, such as migration speed, cell morphology and/or expression of several biological markers.
Thus, during this Master thesis the research will be focused on studying in vitro the influence of several biomechanical conditions utilized by cancer cells to undergo into metastasis. This knowledge will be extremely valuable for developing new biotechnological kits for testing chemotherapeutic drugs in vitro.
