Evaluation of essential oil addition on the properties of PCL based electrospun mats
Supervisors: Professor Gilmar Patrocinio Thim (Aeronautics Institute of Technology, Brazil), Dr. Thaís Larissa do Amaral Montanheiro (Aeronautics Institute of Technology, Brazil), Professor Aldo R. Boccaccini (Friedrich-Alexander-Universität, Germany)
The project focuses on the development of electrospun fibers based on polycaprolactone (PCL) and essential oils for wound healing applications. The project includes the analysis of the proposed material in relation to the antibacterial properties and the stimulation of cell proliferation. The main objective is to develop a wound dressing that is effective both in inhibiting the proliferation of microorganisms and in promoting skin regeneration. The project is carried out by a collaboration between the FAU Institute of Biomaterials and the Aeronautics Institute of Technology in Brazil, through funding from FAPESP (Foundation of Support for Research of the State of São Paulo) related to grant numbers 2019/05856-7; 2021/09335-1; 2023/11117-8.
