3D Scaffolds of tricalcium phosphate/SiO2 and Nancellulose for medical applications
Supervisor in Tunisia : Prof. Khaled Boughzala (University of Monastir).
Supervisor in Erlangen : Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini.
This research project focuses on the fabrication and characterisation of 3D scaffolds containing nanocellulose and different percentages of tricalcium phosphate/ SiO2 materials. These compounds are tailored for medical applications, specifically for bone tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. This project is in collaboration with Prof. Ramzi Khiari (associate professor at the University of Grenoble Alpes, CNRS, Grenoble INP, LGP2, F-38000 Grenoble, France). A complete biological characterisation of the new 3D scaffolds is carried out in Erlangen.

Calcium phosphate/bioactive glass composite for orthopedic applications
Supervisor in Tunisia : Dr. Khaled Boughzala (University of Monastir)
Supervisor in Erlangen : Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini
This research project aims to study the effect of the addition of SiO2 into tricalcium phosphate matrix to create new bone cement composite materials, investigating the bioactivity and osteoblastic cell expression of these new compounds which are tailored for orthopedic applications, specifically for dental prosthesis and for tackle bone infection. The basic materials were developed at Research Unit Analysis and Process Applied to the Environment, University of Monastir, Tunisia.
