Nurshen Mutlu is a PhD student carrying out her project in the framework of the EU-funded (H2020) project FunGlass (Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass) based at Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin, Slovakia. She started her training period at the Institute of Biomaterials (FAU) in November 2019. The research activities of Ms. Mutlu include the production and characterization of borate bioactive glasses (BBGs) doped with therapeutic ions via conventional melt-quenching. Biocomposites will be produced by freeze drying and electrospinning methods for soft tissue applications using mixtures of biopolymers and BBGs.
