3D bioprinting of tissue scaffolds using GelMA bioinks incorporating inorganic bioactive fillers
Investigator: Prof. Bikramjit Basu (Humboldt Research Awardee, IIT Bangalore, India)
Collaborator/host: Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini
This project funded by a Humboldt research award will develop novel bioprinting strategies to engineer organic-inorganic composite scaffolds based on silica-calcia bioactive glass nanospheres incorporated in gelatin-methacrylate gels for craniomaxillofacial applications. The project aims also at establishing structure-property correlations of such composite scaffolds. The outcome of this planned research program will lead to future collaborations between the FAU Institute of Biomaterials and Prof. Basu’s research group in the emerging field of bioprinting of organic-inorganic hybrid composites.
