Study of different strategies for obtaining bioactive PLA scaffolds via electrophoretic deposition

Collaborators: Rezvan Azari, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini

The project aims to develop bioactive scaffolds by combining PLA with bioactive ceramic particles. Using 3D printing and electrophoretic deposition, the goal is to overcome the limitations of traditional methods and avoid polymer degradation. Different techniques for depositing bioceramics on PLA scaffolds will be compared. Effectiveness will be evaluated based on cell viability, adhesion, and antimicrobial activity. These activities are supported by DAAD call “Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists 2024” and are part of the collaboration between our Institute and the Department of Mechanical Engineering – Laboratory of Plasmas, Films and Surfaces, Santa Catarina State University (UDESC-Brazil).
