Bioaktive nanostrukturierte Beschichtung für multifunktionelle Implantate

The use of pure metal implants often leads to inflammations, so it is beneficial to coat the implant with a bioactive material that promotes cell adhesion. For example the coating with hydroxyapatite in the endoprotetic leads to a bone growth at the interface. There are other bioactive materials like bioactive glass, tricalcium phosphate or Bioglass®.
There are different methods used for bioactive coatings of implant materials, for example thermal spraying. In contrast to many other coating processes electrophoretic deposition (EPD) is a low-cost process with a high versatility and a high homogeneity. EPD gives the possibility to control the thickness of the coating and to coat substrates with a complex shape, like a porous scaffold. The coating with two or more different materials can combine the advantages of the different materials.
The use of nano particles as powder for the deposition leads to better cell adhesion and a higher bioactivity of the coating.
