Novel bioactive and degradable materials for cardiovascular stents
Supervisor: Dr. Julia Will, Prof. Dr. –Ing. habil. Aldo R. Boccaccini
The aim of this project is to contribute to the development of resorbable cardiovascular stents to replace the current metallic stents, based on multifunctional biomaterials with drug delivery capability. These newly developed biomaterials will be bioresorbable with improved mechanical properties, reducing the risk of in-stent restenosis, thrombosis, and surface functionalisation to promote rapid endothelialisation. The project is being carried out in the framework of the on-going European Project REBIOSTENT.
